Magic Classes

Magic is a wonderful art that teaches life skills in a hands on way. Over the last 8+ years I have taught magic classes to people young and old. I know how to best engage the learning style that best suits them.

About the Program

During my 1 hour class I will interact with the students and show them how to perform “memorable moments of magic” for their family and friend. Each class contains 1-2 tricks that they will be able to take home with them.

Here is an example of one of the many fun tricks I teach during a class. The Ninja Banana

The Top 10 Ways Learning Magic Can Help Children

1. Self-esteem – Studies have shown that a child’s school performance and overall well being is fundamentally connected to their self-esteem. Learning and performing magic gives them something to be proud of and lays the foundation for developing a positive self-esteem and self-image.

2. Creative Thinking – Magic requires children to think outside the box and use their imagination. In an ever changing workforce companies are looking for employees who possess the ability to creatively approach a problem and then find ways to solve it.

3. Public Speaking Ability – Public speaking is still one of the greatest fears people possess. When children learn magic they learn a “script” and proceed to perform that script in front of an audience. Over time stage fright diminishes and their personality shines through allowing them to speak in front of any crowd.

4. Problem Solving – In some ways magic is about puzzles and finding out how something works. Children who learn to perform magic have in fact learned how to take a puzzle / problem and then how to break it down into solvable components.

5. Math and Science Skills – Historically magic and science have been linked together. Many famous tricks such as causing someone to float in the air can only be accomplished through of a knowledge of math and physics. Children learn these math and science skills in a fun and practical environment via magic and then use them in their everyday life.

6. Dexterity / Motor Skills – Making a coin vanish or an object appear all require dexterity. There is no way to fake sleight of hand. Sleight of hand is fundamentally connected to fine motor skills and increased brain function.

7. Socialization Skills – Magic teaches children to be proud of their abilities and to be willing to engage other people. Once a child learns a trick the first thing they want to do is show it to their peers. Magic is frequently used in the corporate world for ice breakers.

8. Focus – Learning magic gives children something to focus on that develops their personal drive and determination to accomplish goals in their life.

9. Business Skills – Many children who learn magic go on to perform magic for audiences to some extend. This requires children to learn business skills such as marketing, negotiating, and professionalism.

10. Fun – Magic is just plain fun. For some children magic is a fun activity that allows them to relax from other pressures in their life. These kinds of  hobbies help balance the pressure of school and competitive activities with the need for children to sometimes just have fun.
